The Rutgers Inorganic Analytical Laboratory (RIAL) is a leading mass spectrometry center at the Department of Marine and Coastal Sciences at Rutgers University, serving the analytical needs of researchers in a broad spectrum of scientific fields.
RIAL is equipped with several state of the art spectroscopy and mass spectrometry instruments that are specialized in providing low level (ppt – ppb) accurate and precise determination of trace metals and isotopes.
The optical emission spectrometer offers high sample through put, ppb detection limits and simultaneous detection of elements. This technique is well suited to applications that require precise determination of elemental ratios and/or multi-element determination of metals at trace concentrations.
ICP-MS is the most powerful technique for the quantification of trace elements. High mass resolution is the gold standard for the elimination of polyatomic interferences, enabling accurate and reliable quantitative multi-element analyses at trace levels.
